Meet the trustees

Nigel Pacey, Chairman Nigel worked for over 20 years in social housing following an early career in the voluntary sector with young people at Barnardos and Save the Children.  His first job in housing was with a small charity providing a hostel and move on accommodation for young single homeless people. As a Housing Director, he managed teams of up to 130 people delivering housing and associated services in London. Most recently, he established Huntcliff Ltd to deliver Executive Coaching and Leadership Development within social housing.

Paul Tiller, Treasurer As Rentstart treasurer Paul prepares the quarterly accounts and budgets and handles day-to-day financial issues. After growing up in Liverpool, he studied modern languages at Nottingham University and then trained as an accountant. He worked in senior financial roles for major American companies including Philip Morris and Cargill Inc. He lived and worked in Switzerland, Germany and the United States before retiring in 2001. Since becoming a Rentstart trustee in 2011 Paul has been delighted to be part of a growing organisation which is helping people in need.

Paul Tiller, Treasurer

As Rentstart treasurer Paul prepares the quarterly accounts and budgets and handles day-to-day financial issues. After growing up in Liverpool, he studied modern languages at Nottingham University and then trained as an accountant. He worked in senior financial roles for major American companies including Philip Morris and Cargill Inc. He lived and worked in Switzerland, Germany and the United States before retiring in 2001. Since becoming a Rentstart trustee in 2011 Paul has been delighted to be part of a growing organisation which is helping people in need.

 
Christine Pockson A commercial solicitor and MBA who has over 30 years' experience of international business, Christine recently joined the board. She has lived in Elmbridge for 18 years and has worked for the Southern Region National Trust and is now vice chair of Paragon Community Housing Group which owns and manages affordable housing in Elmbridge, Richmond upon Thames and surrounding boroughs. She chairs Paragon's corporate governance committee and is the board representative on health and safety matters. She is also company secretary and director of an Esher residents' association.

Christine Pockson

A commercial solicitor and MBA who has over 30 years' experience of international business, Christine recently joined the board. She has lived in Elmbridge for 18 years and has worked for the Southern Region National Trust and is now vice chair of Paragon Community Housing Group which owns and manages affordable housing in Elmbridge, Richmond upon Thames and surrounding boroughs. She chairs Paragon's corporate governance committee and is the board representative on health and safety matters. She is also company secretary and director of an Esher residents' association.

Julian Rye, Secretary Julian has the key role of Rentstart company secretary. After a career in ICT and major project management in international banking, Julian has been working actively with local charities for many years. He is a CAB volunteer, sits on schools appeals panels and is a trustee of CHEER, an Elmbridge charity working with elderly residents. Married to Madeleine, with two sons and five grandchildren, Julian has lived in Elmbridge since 1966. His leisure interests include amateur theatre and choral singing.

Julian has the key role of Rentstart company secretary. After a career in ICT and major project management in international banking, Julian has been working actively with local charities for many years. He is a CAB volunteer, sits on schools appeals panels and is a trustee of CHEER, an Elmbridge charity working with elderly residents. Married to Madeleine, with two sons and five grandchildren, Julian has lived in Elmbridge since 1966. His leisure interests include amateur theatre and choral singing.

He has been Chair of Wandle HA and latterly Chair of St Mungo’s, the UK’s leading homelessness charity. Paul was awarded a MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2016 for services to housing and tackling homelessness. He has lived in Claygate for over 22 years.
